The Angel

An angel came to me last night
Wrapped in feathers and pale moonlight
As I sat crying on my bed
She offered a hand and I lifted my head

The most beautiful creature I’d ever seen
In black and white- no in between
So very young a girl she seemed
But from her eyes bright wisdom beamed

She wrapped me gently in black and white
And kissed away the pain of night
She looked so fragile and so frail
As she lifted away my heavy veil

The old Mother Moon would protect me, she said
As she laid me down in a feathery bed,
And would carry me through sweetest dreams
While I slept away these worldly themes

She kissed my cheek and touched my face
And moved to the window in silent grace
And into the moonlight she rose into flight
My beautiful angel of Black and White...
