Rain Song

It starts quiet, like something crawling
Between the trees and blowing the leaves up into the air
And holding them there...

Then it comes on, like you came on
Pouring down my windows, streaking my eyes
So all I can see is the steady blurring of the view
And all I see is You.
I wish you were here today for the rain.

It comes sideways- straight on
And there's nowhere for me to run
And I don't want to
I want to take it head on, like I took You
I wish you were here today for the rain.

Everything comes and goes
Harder goodbyes for sweeter hellos
Everything comes and goes
Then it rains down again

I want to dance with no shoes
In the puddles, in this morning dew
I want to lay down with you
And watch it come down
I wish you were here today for the rain.
